Simple cheap mod for side to side gutter mounted roof bars

I got a roof box for my paj but the side to side bars that I had were to short by an inch and I didn't want the expense of buying new bars.

Solution:Remove the rubber covers of the bars and cut through the centre of the bars.I found some box section which fitted inside the original bars and allowed about fifteen inches for each bar.

Slide in the box section and allow three inches extension, drill two holes in either side and secured with four round headed bolts and slide the rubber sheath back over the bar (obviously a bit exposed at either end but taped over) Now they're probably stronger than the original bars and virtualy cost nothing for the mod.
