I prefer to do work myself because at least then i know its been done properly! ill only take it to my mechanic if somtings beyond me or i havent got the tools to do it! the guy i take it to i trust 100% because he specializes in paj's. mates have said to me when its had work done and ive told them the price that i shud have gone here or there coz it would have been cheaper! at least i know my truck has been done by somone whos got the knowledge of what theyre like. ; Azn

Also, pullin it to bits myself means i get to know what litle tiny bits are wrong with it and if theres a squeak or a rattle i know whwere its coming from...........unless irs that wining noised from the passenger seat that only ever seems to happen when the missis is sat in the car! Huh Huh Huh Huh Grin Tongue Lips Sealed

That'll be me then. Plus the fact that I have a trustworthy garage about half a mile away.

I simply don't have the knowledge, the time, the tools or the space to DIY Sad

i agree that some of the simple stuff is within the reach of a lot of us.

i tend to judge if i can do sommat by my basic tool kit. if the tools i have can do the job, then i probably can too. if i havent the tool for the job, its probably better done by somone who has the skills.

The other point is that with all the best will in the world not every thing can be DIY .

The further technology pushes the more technical the faults become.

I would hate to think how much it would cost to replace all the fluids at a garage. Its just cost me approx £95 with filters to DIY.

I tend to look at what I have done before

I have the tools for most jobs now but sometimes i need to take some professional advice and be shown how to do something for the first time

Luckily I have a friendly mechanic that will do that at mate's rates  Cool

I was quoted £165 for engine oil and atf change from a local garage - and the owner is a mate  Shocked

So definitely cheaper to DIY
