Evenin' all ! As it's the end of the year, it's time to start thinking about what holidays to go on and when for 2008... particularly as corporate life doesn't just let you say 'right oh, I'm off for a couple of weeks now!'. To this end, my wife and I were thinking of an offroad adventure for 2008 that takes in a fair old amount of Europe. Now we've both seen something that we wouldn't mind incorporating into our journey and i thought i'd put it up to the club to join in... ... particularly as the company that organises the croatia segment would offer 25% discount [as a club discount] off the price if 6 or more vehicles booked. Specifically the trip is 10 days offroading in Croatia from 15th - 24th July 2008. My understanding is the approx. cost [before discount] is £495 per vehicle [not per person] with up to 4 people sharing per vehicle. The company leading the tours is World 4x4 Adventures and I'm happy to be the liason between our club and this tour company if others are interested in joining me and my wife! http://www.world4x4.co.uk/index.htmFinally, have a look at the website above, if you want more info [as I'm sure any prospective holiday candidate would!] then let me know and as i say above, I'm happy to be the liason for us all ! Regards Harv.

After much discussion and having slept on it, its too much with the kids and schooling exams etc.. so going to have to give it a miss though. Maybe in a couple of years would love to do it

Just to update you all on this potential trip. I sent an email to World 4x4.co.uk. Specifically I asked 4 questions that I thought any interested party might ask:
1. How set in stone are your dates? Time off from work for my wife and I has to be booked well in advance and I don't want to book the time off only to find our intended tour dates has changed.
2. How difficult is the offroading? Looking at your pictures most of it would appear to be able to be done in 2WD with sufficient ground clearance instead of 4wd. Is this actually the case?
3. I have contacts in a number of different clubs in the UK. In order to obtain a 'club discount' would all 6 vehicles have to come from the same club or can they come from a number of different clubs so long as 6 vehicles turn up?
4. If you have relatively experienced 4x4 individuals and they wanted one day of more challenging offroad exploration, would you be able to make that a part of your tour if you were given enough notice?

To the above questions I received the following answer from an employee called Rob.
1. Dates are set. As soon as one person pays a deposit then I won't change them.
2. All the A to B routes are pretty easy, but they are still prettyepic routes. But there are some routes that I always say are optionalwhich will require a lot of effort to get through. There's awaterfall, that's dry in the summer, which is about a kilometer long.Takes three hours down and took five hours up last time. There's theski slope, which is an almost blind drive up the back of because it'sso over grown and then straight off the other side. Plus there'sliterally hundreds of little tracks that lead off places that i'venever explored. There are also three or four little routes I havefound here and there that make interesting little detours...I guess Ijust answered 4.
And i don't need notice, just a plan to make surethat if there's a group going to split off to do something differenteveryone is happy about it. Generally i will stay with the lessexperienced group which is normally the one that doesn't go for theharder stuff.
3. Any 6 vehicles together. I give the discount because with 6vehicles the tour is fully booked with one group that is generally happy to do the same thing all the time. This is much, much easierthan trying to balance the needs of six pairs of people who have nevermet before.
Regards Harv.

I guess the discount thing could be attractive for people so, if you know of someone that would want to partake on this tour in their own vehicle, but are not a member of their club, then so long as we get a total of 6 vehicles together, we will all get the 25% club discount.
I hope this helps any interested party.
