Battery disconection?
« on: January 24, 2008, 01:41:20 PM »

The computer on my Pinin seems locked. The temp seems to be working and so it the clock but the miles to empty tank, mpg average disply seems locked to just displaying 19.7.
If I disconnect the battery and then reconnect it would that help? Are there any other problems associated with doing this? I have no instruction manual and also don't have a key code for the stereo (does it need one

Thanks

Difficult to answer with no specific Pinin info to hand

The key code I'm not sure about but disconnecting battery shouldn't cause problems although to re-set ECUs it needs to be off for 10 seconds or more.

Sorry - Elcetronic Control Units

You'll have at least 2 of these - one for timing and one for fuel injection, and probably loads more as well   Wink

My stereo doesn't have a code.

You should have a white button on the stereo with 'DISP' on it. Pressing this cycles through MPG, Miles left and average speed. To reset MPG or speed, just hold the button down 'til it bleeps Smiley

I do

It doesn't

It doesn't beep, nothing changes. Cry

This is why I wanted to know whether disconecting and reconecting the battery may reset this.

And then - it all started working fine.

Problem solved

Thanks
