Not quite

Glow plug relays are behind the front battery on the near side

Thet are cycled by the ECU in passenger footwell according to time and coolant temperature so if something is wrong with temp sensor or ECU they will continue to cycle as you describe.

Sad Hi Tim, have a horrible feeling that you have identified a newly acquired 'Clicking' on warm up. In the hope that it is CHEAP - where is the Temp Sensor on a 1993 2.5TDi SWB situated ? [in The Shop?] Mike.   Huh

the glo-plug system on diesels are getting more sophisticated staying on or pulsing for some time after the engine has been started making sure that the engine is at the optimum temperature before switching off the circuit.

This is why fitting a bypass bodge switch is never a good idea as it only heats the cylinders on startup and not during warm up causing the black smoke  Smiley

Basically the relays clicking will carry on until the control unit (not the ECU!) reads that the engine temperature is ok. If the clicking carries on once your engine reaches normal operating temp — or doesn't click at all check out the temp sender

Temp sender on the 2.5 is the double bladed one on the top near side front of the head there is a similar one on the 2.8 which may be doing the same job — but don't quote me Smiley

So if your glo-plugs are out of sorts — check the plugs are working (use multimeter) if they are check the temp sender is working (again multimeter) — just because your temp readout in the dash is working doesn't mean that your tempsender for the glo-plugs is ok
