I only have experience with Memory Map 5 for OS mapping and that will show you the BOATS that are marked on OS maps.
You might be able to get an overlay off someone local to you (where are you btw)?
Failing that your county council should be able to give you a copy of the definitive list and those are defined by grid references

Don't know it'll run on your PDA but there's a freeware java app called TrekBuddy that may be what you're after. http://wiki.trekbuddy.net/index.php/Main_PageNo turn by turn nav functions but you can create and upload your own maps using any image - sattelite images, proper maps or even hybrids (from places like google maps, maps.live.com, streetmap.com - OS at the right resolution) or a scanner. There's even an opensource mapping project online though that's road based. If you need a decent screen grab app i can recommend Faststone. You can then use something like Gimp to lace your screen grabs into a decent sized map. Once you have that there's a utility to referece an x,y pixel position on the image map to a known latitude and longditude on the map, identify the scale and your're in business. Maybe a little rich on user involvement but hey, you get the map you want at the scale you want and it's free, as are all the utilities you may need. For all you types out there with GPS phones this will work on most of those too, and won't run up any data charges. Apparently it also outputs gpx files that you can open in Google Earth and show folks where you've been.
