Topic: What Model Have I Bought?? (Read 1028 times)

Hi,
I'll have many more questions but the main one is to get my new baby insured:
from the export doc issued in AICHI in Oct 2003, it is as follows:
MIKAWA 399 SU 6032 First Reg 1993 05 Normal, Passenger, Private, Station Wagon Model Mitsubishi Q-V24WG 5 Seat Engine Model 4D56 Diesel Model designation No. 6748 Classification No 114
DVLA show nothing in addition to the above
Churchill, (who insure my existing car), have a list of imported Pajero SWB Diesel models but say that if I cant be absolutely specific about the one, and I get it wrong, they wont pay out if I make a claim.... got them up to supervisor level, but the best they could do is refer me to the previous owner, (who is no longer with us), and a Mitsubishi Garage. I'm guessing here is y best chance in the short term.
One of the options is PAJERO 2.5D (IMPORT) WAGON TD 2477CC 2DR others dont refer to WAGON, and include stuff like GX XL JX SE .
If a picture would help I can send a few later, (too many failed logins on photobucket, but got my password now)
Cheers for any help
Richard

Well you don't have a waggon as that is the LWB
You have a 2.5td SWB Hard Top
Reckon your best bet is to forget all about Churchill and go with someone like 2gether or Adrian Flux for confidence that they won't place you with a non 4x4 insurer and probably for a 10th of the price of Churchill

Just called adrian Flux and they quote £700 p.a. fully comp protected NCB. She suggested that the fact that I use it for business makes it expensive through them. 2gether - cant get hold of at the moment.
Can I query your statement that a Wagon cant be SWB. The Churchill definition includes the word WAGON and 2DR, (presumably 2 door). Can you have a 2 door LWB? I'm probing a bit cause Churchill quote £400 for the same cover including business.

2gether should be able to give you a good quote, once you get hold of them and no you cannot get a 2 door lwb

Mitsubishi designations are Metal Top - SWB Canvas Top - SWB open backed and canvas covered - nick named the 'J Top' Wagon - LWB Would have thought Churchill is being picky as they don't like insuring Grey Imports and are looking to insert get out clauses Tim will be along later after his play today and might be able to pinpoint with greater accuracy what you have Nice Truck BTW

Is mine a Gen 1, it has just two lights on each rear cluster, the wing mirrors are on a bar from top of door to bottom of the window, a sun visor, (you used to see on the old moggy 1000), split rear windows were the two extra seats are. the seller says its a 1990 model and registered here in 2000.. got a bit of work to do on it, like re coating underneath, brakes and some other cosmetics.. nice vehicle though, quite happy with it (even though i aint had in on road yet) runs well up and down the garden..
