The hunt is nearly over
« on: April 08, 2008, 08:51:12 PM »

Having owned a 1.8 Pinin Animal previously a don't know why we bought a freelander 15 months ago. It has caused me so much grief since the day I bought it so we have finally given up and sold it.

Hopefully this weekend we will be putting a deposit on a 54 plate 5 door Elegance which will be used primarily as our "leisure" vehicle for camping trips and roaming the moors on some very dodgy tracks  Smiley

Quick question. The Pinin we are looking at has road tyres on it so need to re-boot it with some nice Toyo Open Country A/T's. Can someone let me know the size I will need - forgot to ask the dealer!

Cheers

Jamie

Thanks Jamie!

Well I got a 54 plate with 20k on the clock and 12 months manufacturers warranty so well chuffed. I have started to collect the necessary bits to "pinmp it".

Wheel arch extension, Front bumper overider, spot lights and upgrades to the lights. Just need some wind deflectors and some side running boards to get it all sorted.

Our previous car had Toyo Open country AT tyres on it and they were fantastic tyres. Unfortunately they do not do a 215/65/16 but do do a 215/70/16 so was thinking about putting these on?

BTW - have you seen the roll cage on eBay?

The roll cage can be found here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OMP-Off-Road-Fe45-Roll-Cage-MITSUBISHI-PAJERO-PININ_W0QQitemZ320247046390QQihZ011QQcategoryZ10400QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I love off roading but on in my Pinin! - we go to organised events and usually use a defender 130. The pinin will be used for touring with a full load of camping gear. We like to get well off the tarmac though and usually end up with little more than ruts to follow!

I have got everything off eBay and the wheel arch extension only cost £39 rather than the £260 from a dealer! Likewise with the driving lamps which I only paid £29 for. From taling to dealers, there are running out of "accessories" and I had the last but one front bumper overider in the country - and still got 100 quid off  Smiley

Not really planning much more in the way of mods - just trying to make it look a little less soft but really need a good set of boot for when things get difficult.

I was thinking about some roof lights but not sure how to fit them and do the wiring - drilling a hole in the roof does not really appeal!

I am going to do the pimping in one go so no photos just yet

Hi Dave-t

I don't suppose you got a manual with your Pinin?
A member on here promised I could borrow his to photocopy as I never got one with mine but after 3 months of waiting I have giving up hoping the postman will deliver.
I only need it to photocopy.

Any chance?

Yep got a full manual - but it is not small! must be over 100 pages of it

Do you need it all or just certain bits? I could scan it if you wanted or I could try and get my friendly dealer to get another copy?

I got parts of the manual.
There hasnt been a hynes manual made yet, but I'm keeping my eye out.
The lights are on the standard roof bars, but I still had 2 drill holes in, I already had a hole in as it was a van with an aerial throught it.

I ran all my wires down to underneath or my steering wheel, and I cut slots in that plastic cover and put my switches through.I havent got a phote of this but will get 1. I could think of another place where I could put so many switches. I have 8 switches 4 all sorts of things, pluss a hiden cut off switch. N alos the winch remomet in there.
