Common Complaints - Remote Central Locking
« on: April 22, 2008, 10:51:00 PM »

seems daft to have such a hi specced vehicle and not to have remote central locking !

Anyone replaced theirs?

Can someone recommend a supplier?

Thanks

There's a post here here http://www.pajerouk.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,15372.msg243207.html#msg243207 on how to replace it all.

Kits are available on ebay at reasonable cost.

Failing that, might be worth considering getting an alarm with remote central locking fitted. Can be quite an initial outlay for a Cat 1 Alarm and immobiliser, but well worth it for the extra security. And some insurers insist on it anyway - mine did.

Thanks

I just bought a CAT 1 Thatcham alarm/immob.

I still need actuators though for the doors?

The alarm I bought has the shut windows feature.

To get the most out of this, I would need to fit actuators in the rear door, drivers door and passenger door.
Also, fit electic windows in the drivers and passengers door.

Seems a lot of work !

Can anything be robbed from a scrapyard? i.e. did any Paj or Shogun have these fitted as standard (I know that the leccy windows are)

Thanks

Pajeros certainly have central locking so I would say a breakers would be a good place to save money]

Again my only concern would be how weatherproof they are

Yes as TT says - have a look in the breakers section, or see in the parts for sale if anyone here is breaking a Paj (or ebay). You should be able to pick up all that you need for the elecric windows etc. in there. Probably is quite a lot of work if you want to install electric windows all round and use the feature on the alarm aswell
