Off road capability?
« on: May 18, 2008, 12:41:17 AM »

Is it just me that thinks the Pinin is going to be better off road than a standard Paj because It's lighter and has a lower centre of gravity? Or does anyone else share this view??

Discuss.

And you'll need to hide !   Grin  Cheesy  Evil

Unfortunately - from the opinions voiced here by owners the Pinin simply lack enough ground clearance to cope with deep ruts etc so spend a lot of time beached out.  Undecided

Stadard Paj will lean to 42 degrees so centre of gravity isn't really a problem.

Biggest problem with the Pinin is its not easy to improve on standard whereas we can easy add suspension and body lift to make room for big mud tyres etc and we have the power to spare to cope with mods like that.

I suppose that depend on what you mean by "off road"

Many of the guys on here do what I would call esxteme off roading and no the pinin simply has not got the ground clearance to cope. As Tim say's there ae no lift kits available to sort this out - which is a great shame - I would love a bit of lift and some bigger boots!

If your definiton of "off roading" does not involve deep ruts, large rocks and fallen trees the pinin is very capeable - especialy the SWB version. There are plenty of vids on youtube that show the pinin in action.

Aye, the problem is the clearance  Sad

I daresay there's room in the wheelarches for some slightly meatier rubber and the articulation is actually pretty reasonable. But the bigger motors are always gonna win just due to their size.
