« on: July 23, 2008, 01:01:34 PM »

Woop woop  Grin , after a year my 2x4 has become a 4x4 again, whay. Its been a while.  Afro
I got it all fixed up, but could any of you other pinin drivers tell me, do you have wires hanging down from the centre of the veical. this is where my 4x4 problem started, In my head they should all be tied up, but no mine hang loose.  Angry

I will be getting a company to make me a skid plate, I tried before but 1st company said no way, way to difficult.  Shocked

good to hear you 4x4 is fixed.
my wires were hanging down. I think there is a clip near by to hold them up out of the way.

as for skid plates, i made my own from a bit of scrap ally a mate gave me and some basic garage tools. The hardest part was bending the metal.

haha - yes - i freaked when i saw those wires hanging down too!

I made a skid plate out of a "no-standing" sign for the same place - i'm waiting to make a full skid plate front to rear, once the custom fuel tanks are sorted i'll have a bit more of a handle on what needs to attach where.

easiest way i found to bend it was to sit the plate on two low pavers then drive onto it! folded it in 2 directions nicely Smiley

Im thinking of making it out of 5mm, will need more than that to bend. But I got a machine to do it. How did you lot attach it to the veical. Thats what Im thinking is going to be hard. And also did you do it one side of the chassis to the other?

mine is the same width as the original tin plate but goes back as far as the anti roll bar. mine is held on with 6x8mm bolts through already existing holes and rubber mounted to the roll bar to stop the last part moving. Seems to work ok so far Smiley

its about 4 or 5mm ally , I also bent it on the kirb and driving over it and pushing with mine and a mates legs and jamming it in a gap in some concrete and jumping on it:) it took a while
