Thanks all. Seemed to be running fine and fuel economy seems improved too.

Never really had anyu doubts I could make a good job of it - the only downer was that damned oil union that turned out to be dented on the face the copper gasket should seal on.

Indeed Jan! If I was ever that bothered I never would have gone with all the massive expense of fixing Snoopy and definitely would have saved Tim all that huge amount of time and effort he put in rebuilding the engne - twice!

And if I was still that bothered now, I'd buy a cheap crappy runaround and keep Snoopy for weekends only - but I just couldn't bring myself to do that

Unfortunately, Snoopy just about squeezes 300kms out of about 50 litres (which is usually what I put in whenever he needs a fill) and that's driving conservatively 

Oh well - never bought him for economy in the first place
