oil leak

well after getting shut of the transit i went to work in my truck for the first time in ages..only to get there and dump all my oil over the car parkit was pizzing out of the lower pipe that goes to the alternator  more work to be done  went to leisurways got some oil and limped again to the garage......its looking more like i'm getting a defender more every day

Doesn't sound good but should be an easy fix

It's the oil feed to the vacuum pump and has either come loose or fractured

Doesn't sound good but should be an easy fix

It's the oil feed to the vacuum pump and has either come loose or fractured

it was rubbing on something tim, the bottom hose.............does the steering arm come through above it cos it was that that it was rubbing on......... looks to me that its due to the body lift so beware and be shure to check snoopy

I did mate - and re-shaped the hydraulic hoses that go near the bottom hose

The answer to that is no and there is no way the steering arm should be anywhere near the return pipe of the vacuum pump or the feed, neither should a body lift cause this problem

the only pipe on a 2.5 that may rub on the steering is the vacuum hose to the servo (contains a vaccum not oil)
