If I let my automatic transmission downshift on it's own, it tends to act pretty "lazy". So when I need strong acceleration, I tend to switch off overdrive or shift into 2nd, depending on speed. I took it in to get the kickdown cable adjusted, and the bloke at the garage simply adjusted the accelerator cable located on top of the engine. Now it downshifts when you floor it, as opposed to staying in the same gear before, but it still isn't perfect.
That being said, if you floor it from halt, it changes first gear round about 3,800 rpm. Does this sound about right? If I manually upshift, the truck accelerates a heck of a lot quicker. Does this sound like a kickdown cable problem? Cheers!
