water pump
« on: August 20, 2008, 09:21:34 AM »

Hi all...father in law has a 2.8 lwb L reg pajero, which has recently sprung a water leak from where the pipe from the water pump goes into the block.

Wants to know if you can just replace the pipe, or does it come attattched to the water pump itself.??

The 2.8 water pump has a cover that bolts onto the front of the block and has a funny shaped ruibber o ring seal.

If it's leaking it telling you the seals are on the way out as there is a tell tale hole in the casing for that very reason.

However - there is no pipe there so is it possible you are referring to the thermostat housing that is higher up and further back with a by-pass pipe into the head. If so - then that's just sealed by rubber O rings at each end that are part of the gasket set. This pipe has a bracket to the front left of the cylinder head.

If that's the case - PM me your postal addy and I'll send you a couple   Wink
