That's quite simliar to Simon Doc's bloomin good idea, But the aerials performance will be affected by being so close to the body work

Thats a very good idea to me being a radio amateur and a new 4x4 owner i have one on the gutter
but i will look into how to do that on mine - may not perform as well but then the wife cannot object as it wouldnt involve drilling holes in the new motor.                                                                                                                                              i  i assume you can you still fit the spare wheel cover ok!

Yep spare wheel cover still fits on fine, he made it from a piece of metal that he got from B & Q

I have put a 30 cm ruler against it so you can see the size!

Thanks for the photos and the brillant idea , ive made one up and installed after alumi painted
maybe i should have used black but the alu was in the garage and left over from doing my 10m latice
tilt over mast .
sorry no photos yet- made mine a "H" shape to mount a crome mast ( 1.5in) so the HF mobile starts just
below the roof and so i can reach up to change the aerial for each band - 80/40/20/15/10m amateur bands. better than using a "screwdriver"type which adjusts using a motor.and a lot cheaper to make.

now i just need to find a 100w hf rig to bolt in the back making it more secure than my portable.
