HI im a new member and a new 4x4 pejero owner and being a radio amateur i like operating from high hill top sites to do contesting and "dxing"( were you contact as many other radio stations far away ) were a off roader is useful but not essential. So id like to be able to carry lengths of mast on a roof rack or even have a "pump up mast " mounted on the back - ( note wife will not me drill holes in bodywork) any ideas? -Im a resonable DIYer.
Just seen that you have seen Ade's spare wheel mount.
Other large aerial solutions I've seen involve changing to a HD winch bumber then fixing to that.
My CB aerial mounts to a bracket on the roof crate and I guess you could rig a corresponding bracket off a side step for a hydraulic mast if this bracket was back a bit further.

Thanks for the reply and advice Tiny Tim , yes within seconds of seeing Ade s spare wheel aerial mount i was out there with the tape measure , the wife can*t object to a bracket nicely hidden behind the spare wheel , mine will be a E shape so i can have two mounting points (clamps) to hold up a short alu pipe and then i can mount HF/VHF aerials on at roof top hieght - qiuck assembly on top of the hills
How about a drive on mount? A couple of horizontal bars about eight inches apart connected to a vertical bar that holds the antenna, simply park your extremely heavy Paj on the mount and use whichever trapped vertical or beam you want. A simple earth spike comletes the kit. simple, cheap and absolutely no holes required!!
