Keep an eye open in TOR as its bound to get a mention but unfortunately the National Parks now have powers to TRO lanes if they see fit.

Might just be routine checks - they do that round here from time to time to check for illegal vehicles etc

there are now woodn posts driven into the ground across one of the lanes Shocked i cannot figure out if this is to let a section of the lane recover because it it a bit chewed up or if its an attempt to stop you doing the whole lane Angry i will have to see if i can find out on the net or i will have to pop up there and ask Roll Eyes
i have now sent an email to the beacons national park as soon as i receive a reply i will post it up for everyone to see/read Smiley until then i think it would be better to stay away from the park until we find out something more solid Embarrassed Undecided

Good plan  Cool

By rights there should be a TRO notice if it has been officially closed but could it be a RUPP that is no longer a vehicular right of way after the NERC bill.

I know there was a lot of talk about closing Sarn Helen completely.

Local council website or RoW team should be able to tell you more.

Sarn Helen is RuPP, both Sarn Helen and The Gap are only open at certain times of the year I'm not sure when. If as redpaj says Sarn Helen is open then there is hope for other former RuPPs to be opened at the discretion of the various councils (Powys for one) and the Brecons National Park.

I know that South Wales Pajero Off Road Club are currently in talks with Powys, Gwent and the Brecons Parks re using various routes within the BNP for our weekend meet in over the May bank holiday.

I've also heard many rumours about lanes and Trefil being closed for the past three years let alone since NERC Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It pays to get individual permission to drive each lane because then if you are stopped you have it in black and white Wink

as far as i am aware sarn helen is open, there is only a small section that is closed by resolven (and the byway there isnt actualy called sarn helen it goes by another name which is stated in the byway marker at the start of the lane), and this opens for a few weeks at the end of may (i think), as for the section with the "steps" that is ok to drive and not closed, i have driven it this year already after contacting the local county council and asking. hope this helps guys  Smiley
