its just i can get stuff fabbed up

hi mate, what you need is a bar, pref solid so diameter is reduced that runs along just under the sills. they take the place of the steps but do not reduce ground clearance as much. the idea is to protect the sills when off roading, some use em to literally 'slide' the vehicle over rocks - ergo the name. i would be up for some if they were the right thing.

thats an interesting idea, would take some neat welding to seal em up gas tight, and worng size rock could make em pop Shocked
