Air con not working
« on: April 13, 2007, 05:12:56 PM »

Just as the warm weather has hit us I took my Pajero out for the first time in months tried the air con and no cold air. When I got home I lifted the bonnet and switched it on again and as I suspected the engine revs did not drop so the comp is not kicking in but the fans are anyone any suggestions apart from sell it quick and cheaply to me?

Nah - I don't need another one ta !    Wink

Compressor has its own fuse - number 9 - 10A in engine bay box

Other possibilities  ...

The system has lost all its charge and the compressor wont run for that reason
(very likely if not used for a while as compressor seals dry out)

The wire to the compressor has broken

I'm going to have a job putting leads to it to see if it kicks in, very limited space even with the underpanel removed checked the fuses inside the vehicle and thet are o.k. and the fan is coming on have also noticed a creaking sound on left hand side so it looks like I need to spend a few bob on it.

Sorry the creaking is coming from underneath the vehicle sounds almost like a rubber binding the air con comp is silent.

But still no cold air ?

OK then the trick is narrowing down what the creak is in time with

Engine revs, suspension movement, road speed etc ?

Oh - note to others - not torsion bars (Evos don't have them)  Wink

No air con getting it booked in next week. The creaking sound is wierd its not related to drive speeds I have been driving on country roads around the back of Fareham which were flooded a while back I wonder if some debris in the water has got into a bush or bearing because it there when I move off and if I put it in reverse but then when I move off with the windows open it dissapears.
