... go through this list before the edge of every descent to avoid unpleasant surprises ... * 4LLc on transfer selector (make sure its all the way forwards)
* L on main selector (make sure its all the way back)
* Aircon off
* O/D off
* Wheels straight
... and if it's a steep descent: * Brown trousers * Puckered ring * and a mighty as you go over the edge lol Seriously though, it does take quite a few feet before the gearbox starts working so that can be a little unnerving - usually just enough time to think "shit! I forgot to: a) Put the selector into 4LLc, b) Put the main selector into L, c) turn the Aircon off, d) turn the O/D off,
or any combination of the above!

HANG ON A MO ! Br00n1e's is a diesel - a V6 will not take kindly to 500 rpm tickover

I noticed at the weekend that the engine braking on our V6 is much worse than our old diesel was. Had to resort to using the brakes at one point.

Interesting - this is a bit of wisdom for the newcomers Brakes aren't a problem if you need em but real gentle and listen for a wheel 'crunching'. Just try to avoid using em routinely to break the habit of panic braking which is so dangerous off road.

approach the top of the hill in low then give it a tickle on the throttle to take it over the edge the engine break should work fine thats how i do it in the lwb and it goes down the hill steady away. Anyway craig i should be at kirton hopefully at the end of this month mate so i can jump in with you and show you how to go on with it.

also make sure that the auto box is switched to the hold mode in 4llc and that will help slow things down , dont use your brakes if you can help it or you might experience a world of pain you wouldnt want to be in
