Kankku
« on: August 07, 2007, 11:35:28 AM »

Hi,
I went on an off road driving day with a company called Kankku based in Windermere, it was great, never done anything like that before but now I am hooked. I loved the Pajero that I used too, now I want one.
I went there to kit them out with our front bars as they wanted to have the same as thier Landrovers.
Now though I want to go again, any of you guys heard of them? any experience with them?
This is me with the front wheel hanging, if I sat forward in the seat it tipped, and if I sat back it came back up.
I can see why off roading is so popular now, what have I been missing all this time?

Nice looking trucks, their "bring your own 4x4" price is pretty high though.

I can remember them getting a slagging for overloading lanes with traffic and charging high prices for the same...

Perhaps they've changed their spots

yep - that's what I remember too but their reply seemed very level headed and I wasn't sure they deserved all the flak they got.  Undecided

Paul - I can see your front bars being fine out in the wide open spaces but a lot of the country aint like that and its the wrap round bit that works to protect the car.

Good to hear your another convert though !  Cool

I did a day with this company and had a great time it was in a land rover, but the instructor i was with told me the pajeros go up the same places as the Defender and i went up some pretty scary looking lanes they all had the Cooper STT tyres on, great on the rocks i was climbing, wasnt impressed with the Td5 it was stalling in places that the Paj would have pushed on.
All round a great days offroading even if the looks from some of the ramblers could have killed, but they were walking in the middle of my road!

its interesting that they use pajero's are they the only experience day type company that use em?? most seem to favour the green skip model Grin

would be some sort of coup if they could be seen to support the club, even if say they give out a flyer to those on an experience day.

If you look closely at the pics, you'll see the back end of a Defender ....... so that should answer your question mate (probably use the Mitsi's for laning and the Defender for the more extreme stuff)

Never had any personal dealings with Kankku, only 2nd hand info re: size of groups taken out, not abiding to voluntary one-way's on certain lanes.

Heard the same too. They sound like they're happy to take as much money as they can and not give a stuff about trashing the lanes they're using
