I've had mine for a few weeks now, bought a 1998 2.8TD LWB with the wider track (won't tell you what I paid for it, you might be sick ). So far so good. Was plenty comfortable on the 4 hour slog down the M6 after picking it up, ride/handling etc is a bit agricultural but mainly because my other car is a sporty Italian so it's never going to compare well on that front. Fuel is about what I'd expect from a engine this size pulling a truck this size, no idea on mpg, I try not to think about it. It's a quite fun to drive though once you get used to it, great looking down on Discovery drivers (which I used to do anyway but not because I sat higher ) and looking forward to some really nasty weather so I can go about my business with no worries.

well got my 94, lwb shogun 2.8td leather 7 seater bout a mth ago, NO history with it and 144000 on the clock, apart from a over heating prob (i hope is resolved now) its great fun, its totally different from driving a car and is very calming ( helps me with the road rage therapy hahaha ). the engine is very sweet even at that mileage but i am giving shogy a total overhaul and full service to make sure so go for it bud. if u think its wot u want then there isn't much better 4x4 out there than these for complete use - family car, off road, work horse, towing, commuting (if u take it easy with the speed lol). have fun keith

I bought mine last september mostly out of need rather than choice(needed a seven seater)but its one of those cars I've always wanted to own and is my first venture away from Fords in 15 years of driving. My choices boiled down to one of these or a Ford Galaxy and after hearing the horror stories from the Galaxy OC forum my decision was easy.
I must confess I used to drive a Mk1 2.5td 91 vintage many moons ago while working for a friends uncle and I've wanted one since but this was the first rear excuse I had.I must confess that if I had needed a car for to and from place of work use as well as social use the Galaxy would have won purely on the economy front but as we only do a maximum of 5000 miles a year that was no worry.
So far a very happy experience even better when I fixed the air-con!
Plus I payed literally peanuts for mine.95 2.8td LWB in Blue over silver with 120,000 miles not km on clock but later spec with white dash and cat1 alarm and Kenwood 6 disc heat unit already fitted plus long Mot for £2500!
