There is an interesting thing in this months TOR about metal bullbar legislation, it is in the Tec Spec for the TBR Ford Ranger For those of you who havnt seen it, it says: EU legislation for pedestrian saftey. From later this year it will be illegal make and sell metal bars that fail to comply - the maximum penalty is a 12 month prison sentence and a £20,000 fine  does anyone know what the legislation states for the manufacture of metal bumpers? |

Especially given that Pajeros had steel bumpers from new   yes mate but the new pajeros dont  its only going to be illlegle to make and sell non conforming front bumpers, the law dosnt cover what is already fitted |

 do not quote me on this but this was a piece from dft meeting.... Kevin Delaney RAC Foundation 3.2.3 Kevin Delaney mentioned that bull bars would still be legal on vehicles even when the pedestrian protection proposals were eventually in place. However, it was noted that manufacturers no longer offer them as original equipment or accessories and, although they could be obtained from other sources, it appeared that there was now less demand for them. so there we have it and i spoke to formula 4 who did sell them,, they said if your car alredy has them you can replace by buying frm fleabay or private but i belive you can still have them shipped in ie Jaos ect. link to the law. http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=198682

hi when i had my accident a few months ago and my original bull bar was damaged, when i contacted my insurance company they told me the only bull bar they would fit was a fome or rubber bull barat a cost of £2,500 where i could get another from ebay for £150 they also told me that if the vehicle was going to be repaired they would not replace with an original one so they said i could repair myself and paid me to repair it so i could then have the chrome bar on it.
