SWB Rear Speaker Access

Easy way too change rear speakers on a SWB that saves hours of pain.

1) Take off the drivers and passengers kick panel and pull away the plastic trim that goes around the door edge.

2) Unscrew the screw that sits inside the ashtrays in the side panels.

3) Unscrew the screws that hold the trim in place around the floor area,
about four each side.

4) Give the panel a sharp tug and it will come away about 8-10".

5) The speaker cover is held by 4 x 6mm bolts which will undo with a small pair of pliers or spanner.

6) Remove the cover.

7) Let the cover rest in its original position and if you poke a phillips screwdriver through the holes, it will line up perfectly with the speaker screws, and you will be able to unscrew the speakers.

BEWARE..... the standard speakers..6x9... are quite shallow and the Pioneer 6x9 's that I recently replaced them with needed to be spaced away from the housing so not to foul the outside panel "rear quarters"

9) Fit your new speakers and then the rest is the reversal of removal.

This will save you removing all the rear seats and removing the whole of the rear trim.
