Towbar Fitting

Relatively easy to do on the mk2
2.8 paj but there are a few niggly points. CHECK THE HOLES ON EACH CHASSIS RAIL AS THE BOLTS THAT GO DEEPEST IN ARE BOLTED INTO CAPTIVATED NUTS. These nuts on mine were manufactured out of line so i had to remove them via the tack welds with a splitting chisel. Once removed all is plain sailing or so I thought. Re bolt the towbar starting with the furthest bolts away and work back towards your self . Now to get the bumper back on but now the space you had to get the bolts out is drastically reduced as 4 of the bolts are now really difficult to get the spanner into so make sure the bolts are really cleaned up first so you can wind them in finger tight until there nearly in then the last few turns with a spanner.
